The new STEMA RETRO goes into production

The STEMA RETRO – An absolute treat for the eyes, which lets you shine at every campground. The STEMA RETRO is more than a trailer that transports your tent, your camping chairs and your bicycles, the STEMA RETRO is passion and identity. It makes the true camper’s heart beat faster, if it says:

Old design - newly interpreted. “Retro-Design? YES! ... But please with the most modern technology and according to our comfort expectations!“ The STEMA Metalleichtbau GmbH engineers and product designers accepted this challenge, and will present the STEMA RETRO in series production at the CMT 2018 in Stuttgart for the first time.

Manufacturing car trailers is a company tradition. Already in 1969, the first models came off the production line. The old “HP’s”, which served as a template for today’s STEMA RETRO, were among them. The square side surfaces are original. However, in order to accommodate today’s demands for more load volume, the trailer was expanded in length and width. Besides, its modern design is colourful, and its shape resembles that of a car chassis rather than the typical, common box trailer. “We attach special importance to the convenience of the user. Modern lighting technology, smooth operation with pneumatic springs, and shapely handles fasteners and lashing eyelets, etc. That is also important for a successful vacation,” says Matthias Kieslich, Head Designer.

Small, lockable, and space-saving storage. In addition, it is already equipped with a lockable lid. This advantage, and the possible roof railing with bicycle racks, makes it a real camping friend. The extra real panel tailgate can even be unhinged. The drawbar can be folded down in a few short steps, which means: in order to not run into the roof of the garage, the drawbar can be “shortened”, allowing the trailer to be stored upright in the carport.

Thinking about the future - electric mobility.
„We all have to think about how we can solve the transport questions in our private lives in a flexible and environmentally friendly way. An electric car with a comparatively small trunk will occasionally need additional cargo space. The use of a small car trailer that also provides additional battery storage could be one such solution.
