STEMA is expanding!
The positive business development, especially the trend towards larger trailers, requires an expansion of the factory capacities. New growth opportunities have now been opened up by purchasing a neighboring property.
STEMA Metalleichtbau GmbH produces around 40,000 car trailers annually with 165 employees. The positive business development, especially the trend towards larger trailers, requires an expansion of the factory capacities. New growth opportunities have now been opened up through the purchase of a neighboring property, which was handed over today (Friday, June 26, 2020) by the previous user. With the expansion of its production and storage capacities planned for this year, STEMA will further strengthen its market position.
“In recent years, sales of our larger STEMA quality trailers, which are increasingly in demand from specialist retailers, have increased in particular. These require more space in production and on our storage and staging areas. With the expansion at the site, we are positioning the company on a sustainable basis for the continuation of our constant successful course, ”Managing Director Michael Jursch looks to the future.
For two years, the company management had been examining various options, which also included new construction variants at other locations. Michael Jursch: “Remaining at the location with the purchase of land turned out to be the best solution in terms of economy and implementation. We are pleased that we can continue to produce in Großenhain and at our proven location."
At the end of the year, part of the existing buildings on the neighboring property, measuring 17,000 square meters, are to be demolished and a crossing created between the two areas. The trailer manufacturer's welding shop and dispatch warehouse will be relocated to the existing building on the newly acquired property, where a new loading ramp with four docking stations for trucks (previously two) will also be built. The construction work in this first construction phase should be completed in the second quarter of 2021. The prerequisite for the expansion was the purchase of the property of the former vocational training and technology center of the Dresden Chamber of Crafts from the property holdings of the Free State of Saxony at the end of 2019. The purchase of the property became possible after the Dresden Chamber of Crafts had built a new training center in Dresden.
